The Red Umbrella Antique Shop // Inspiration and Brainstorming

Nisswa, Minnesota, USA
August 22, 2015

Earlier this week I visited the cutest little shop known as The Red Umbrella. The shop was full of re-purposed antiques and what not. So. Cute. I fell in love and naturally felt the need to show you guys.

Everything at a great price, the store gave me ample ideas for home. Here are some photos I snapped on my phone. Enjoy...

 .....

loving these colors
  ...

IN LOVE with this table centerpiece cloth and its white ruffles on the end
  ...

This would totally work for a mud room or entryway bench!
 ...

I just thought the way they displayed their paint colors was cute and creative ;)
 ...

This bench and it's fabric print is so darling!
 ...

haha I found a rug beater!!
 ...

I want this for my room!

Hope you were as inspired as I was!

DIY Abstract Art with Gold Scale Addition (no foil nessecary)

Diy Abstract Art w/ Golden Addition (no foil needed!)

Materials:
canvas
acrylic paint
artist spatula
sponge brushes
optional: metallic gold spray paint

Directions:

Randomly squirt paint in little globs on the canvas. (The reason there is already a layer of paint is because I didn't have enough white paint to cover the bad layer and start over, so I just continued with what I had.)

With the spatula, spread out the paint. I honestly forgot to take pictures of this step. Fortunately, the blog I learned from has very well written and pictured directions. If you want more instructions, read that blog post here.

Then, either using gold acrylic paint or metallic spray paint, put some paint on the brush and sponge on the dashes to make the design below.

To add a little more, I used the spatula and dark blue paint to complete the look.

Hope you enjoyed my abstract art with a little golden twist!  ;)

Back to School // Backpacks

When it comes to back to school backpacks... I've got your back ;) Get it? Oh man my humor sucks.

Women's Jester Backpack
I just recently bought this one. It's a little more expensive than I would normally buy but it's well worth the money. Not only will it last me through high school, but its cute and comfortable.
link is here

This pack only comes in one size. But if you want a smaller size, then buy this backpack that's very similar but not as large.

Super Fx Backpack
Isn't this one so pretty? Jansport is a great brand and they have such practical school styles and designs. link here

Austin Backpack
I like two prints in this backpack which is also Jansport. link here

From Claire's... (oh look!.. they're on SALE!)

Teal Aztec Print Backpack (Jansport) link here

The next 2 wouldn't necessarily be large enough for school (depending on how much you need to carry), but I still find myself using them constantly.

Dark Denim Pineapple Print Backpack link here

Colorful Island Print Backpack w/ faux leather trim link here

Photography Role Models and Inspiration

So sorry for no upload in so long! There was a hurricane which meant no wifi, no power, and no blogging :( Here's a quick post to keep you updated, and it includes my favorite thing ever... photography :)

Hunter's photography is SO INSPIRING and the way he incorporates themes and passions in his work is amazing.

Angelika's photography is purely beautiful. The way she summarizes each photo shoot in a personal way makes you be sure you don't miss one single photo of hers.

Thanks for reading! Hope you were inspired ;)
